PW News October 2015
A Word from Our Moderator Beth Cotter
With the cooling of the weather, October brings a sense of renewed energy. Beginning-of-the-school-year activities are settling into a routine, and we can take some quiet time to reflect on our priorities for ourselves as women.
If you haven’t already tried one of the Women’s Circles, please do! Participating in a Circle is a great opportunity to get to know other women in the church. You also have the opportunity to participate in the ongoing mission activities of PW as well as the Bible studies. If you can’t make it every time, that is fine. Most of us drop in when we can, and the ties that we create at Circle continue to draw us back. Come as you are!
If you have any questions regarding PW, please contact me (770-653- 3854 or )!
The annual NPC Women’s Retreat will be held at beautiful Lake Chatuge Lodge on March 11-13, 2016.
Join your NPC family and friends for fellowship, food and fun in a relaxing setting in the north Georgia mountains. All women are welcome, including friends and visitors of NPC.
The theme for the weekend is “Find Your JOY.”
We will learn and laugh, create and play as we seek Biblical and practical ways to find joy in all seasons of our lives.
More information will be coming soon for registration!

Debunking Myths About PW's Finances
I don’t need to pledge money to PW because….
1) … PW Is Funded By the Church.
PW is fully funded by PW pledges and doesn’t receive any money from the church budget.
2) … PW Has So Few Expenses.
Actually, PW does have a few sizeable expenses:
- Bible Study materials that the Circle and Weekly Bible study leaders utilize, including DVDs
- Bible-Study-Specific training for all Bible study leaders.
- The retreat Bible study program, including an honorarium for the retreat speaker.
- Fellowship Scholarships for the retreat
- Childcare during Bible study meetings & PW Gatherings
3) … PW Pledges only go to social activities.
More than half of PW’s budget goes toward the Bible study materials, the Bible Study leader training, and the Retreat Bible study program. The Rebekah and Ruth Circles also a total of $200 each year; Circle members nominate charities and then vote to select the charity to receive the $100 donation.
In October we will celebrate Clergy Appreciation, by treating our clergy and staff to lunch at an area restaurant. A donation envelope will be available at each circle meeting and also in the PW box in the workroom. Join us in thanking our clergy and staff for all their hard work and loving support throughout the year!
Thornwell: Ferguson Cottage
We will also be collecting sweatshirts and pants (sizes child’s S, M, L), and thank-you note cards for our elementary boys in the Ferguson Cottage. Currently, we are helping Jaysunn and Devin (4th grade), Kedrevion (3rd grade) and Jamie (1st grade). They still LOVE super heroes!!!! “Tags” are also available at each circle meeting with more generic things needed by the entire Thornwell community. All items can be left in the Mission Box in the Fireside Room throughout the month.
Looking Forward to a Great Year of Giving!
