PW Enews February 2014

 A Word from Our Moderator

Today is the first day of February and I still can’t believe it’s 2014 already! I’m sure many of you can relate. I spent some time this week reading the Annual Report for NPC for 2013 – I always enjoy that activity. I am so inspired by the many ways that people find to participate in the life of our wonderful church, and in thinking about the hundreds of families both nearby and around the world whose lives are touched in some way by NPC. For me personally, I am very thankful for the friends I have made through participating in PW activities over the years. It started as an occasional meeting or event, and now I’ve been serving on the Coordinating Team (CT for short) for a few years straight. It is so wonderful to have friends who can share the ups and downs of my life with me and who help me to grow in my faith through it all.

I want to thank Sarah Dixon for her leadership of PW over the past many months. She and her husband have moved away from Roswell to be closer to family, so she had to step down as Moderator. We’ll miss seeing her smiling face at our meetings and gatherings!

As we move rapidly through this no-longer-new year, I hope that you have a chance to connect in some way with your fellow Presbyterian Women.

Your Sister in Christ,

Nancy Thompson

Time to Register - April 25 - 27 – Retreat with us

Do we mean it, when we claim – in the Westminster Shorter Catechism – that our chief purpose as Christians is to glorify and enjoy our God?

Come retreat with us, to enjoy God and experience the benefits of play!

Together, we will explore the place of play in our lives as people of faith – and we will play together.

Spring Retreat – Register Soon. Update on Room-Choosing Info!

Hard to imagine – in the midst of this arctic vortex – our SPRING RETREAT is just around the corner! April 25-27 at Whitepath Lodge in Ellijay.

We need to receive your registrations AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Our group price for lodging is based on a minimum enrollment.

ALSO . . .

There are always a few minor surprises. I thought – since we’ve reserved the entire lodge and they are suites – we could do our bedroom-choosing first-come, first-served (i.e., you could each choose a room when you arrive).

This week, however, I received a blank Room Assignment Form from the lodge manager.

She requires I designate bedrooms in advance, and she will provide room keys accordingly.

SO . . .

1) If you want a particular ROOMMATE, please jot her name on your registration form.

Or, if you’ve already registered, please call or e-mail me:

Linda Morningstar 770-642-5527.

2) We have a few SINGLE rooms. If you want a single, please jot that on your registration form – and register soon.

Attached is the registration form. Or, pick one up on the Presbyterian Women’s bulletin board in the hallway at church.

A week or so before the event, I will send all registrants a detailed memo with what to bring, driving directions, etc.

REMEMBER – if you make the happy decision to bring your sister, mother, daughter, cousin, aunt, or friend who is not a member at Northminster, she pays a discount price for registration.

This is going to be a rich, fun, refreshing, lovely weekend. Hope you can come!

Linda
