No Winter Doldrums for M.O.E.

February will be filled with opportunities to demonstrate the love of Christ.

  • The month kicks off with Souper Bowl Sunday.  Our youth will be collecting canned food and donations to feed the hungry through North Fulton Community Charities on February 5, the day of the Big Game.
  • We’ll continue our assault on hunger with an ongoing drive to stock the shelves of NFCC Food Pantry.  Place your donations in the convenient bins in the Narthex or down the main education hall.
  • Northminster will help two new families set up housekeeping through HomeStretch.  HomeStretch’s programs of temporary housing/permanent solutions provide transitional housing, education and coaching to move families from homelessness to self-sufficiency.  Talk to Nancy Campbell, our liaison, about needs for furniture, furnishings, and a financial mentor for our families.
  • Giving a Meal a Month has been a great success.  Your participation ensures HomeStretch and Drake House families have a well-balanced, low-cost meal each month and that they build their family recipe files. Grab a yellow bag and hit the stores.  Dave and Vicki Johnson have all the info you need.
  • Finally, know that your gifts change lives.  Northminster was able to make an extra contribution to Grace for All, the organization that coordinates our sponsorship of Meseret in Ethiopia.  The gift was well timed.  Yonas, our contact at Grace for All, let Marybeth Vaughan know that one of the children in the program was recently diagnosed with active TB.  Our gift will fund the medicine for this child, as well as the family which is also infected.

Don’t Give Anything Up for Lent

While many people give something up during Lent in remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice for us, Northminster is re-imagining Lent as an opportunity commemorate Christ’s example of service.

Be on the look out for more information in the bulletin, on the website, and in the hallways to find your opportunity to take something on, instead of giving something up, for Lent this year.
